Bridgewater College,
· Dr. William Abshire is the Anna B. Mow Endowed Professor of Philosophy and Religion and Chair of the Department. He holds a master's degree in theology from Bethany Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in philosophical, systematic, and historical theology, and the philosophy of religion from the University of Virginia. He also has general interests in theology and culture, ethics, comparative religion, and in Christian education. He has participated in seminars on foreign exchange education, specifically in Strasbourg, France. He has spent time in China exploring Buddhism's cross influences with native Chinese religions. He and his family live in Mount Sidney, Virginia, are active in the Church of the Brethren, and in district and regional committees and leadership roles within that denomination.
