Vision Notetaking is often confused with transcription. If notetaking were merely transcription, then a tape recording, or perhaps a video recording would be the ultimate form of notetaking. But effective notetaking is an active process which is intended to distill the meaning from the lecture or book or whatever is delivering the content in such a way that the essence is preserved and the redundancy is eliminated and the resulting form is clearer than the original. It may evoke the original. |

Objectives Since the process of Notetaking is one which goes on in the mind of the notetaker and its apprehension of the content the objective is to formulate methods that facilitate rapid, accurate, and clear notes. See Box and Tree world for some ideas. |
