Assignment:
1. There are 15 problems on pages 268 to 272. Divide the problems up by the concept tested and do at least two for each concept. If you have difficulty with a particular concept then do more problems and review how you are doing. You are the best judge of your own understanding.
Week 8 Class 2 Section 7.2 Part I
1. Section 7.2 Standard Units and Areas Under the Standard Normal Distribution—Part 1
Assignment:
1. You should look at the problems from Section 7.2. There are 48 problems, pages 284 to 286 – sound like a lot – but many of them are just variations on a theme. Before next Monday's quiz you should go over a good sampling of them and prepare any questions you have to discuss in class for next time.
Week 8 Class 3
1. Section 7.2 (Continued) — Start off with Question and Answer Session
2. Do lots of examples problems
Assignments:
1. Make sure you do a sampling of problems from pages 284 to 286 and grasp the concepts in Section 7.2. We'll have a brief Question and Answer session to start off the class on Monday and there will be a TEST next Wednesday before Easter Break.
1. Section 7.3 Areas Under Any Normal Curve
Assignment:
1. Make sure that you read over section 7.3 carefully. Do you see the ideas represented by the area under the curve of the probability distribution function?
2. There are 30 problems on pages 295 to 297. Read through them and group them in your mind, maybe jotting down things on paper, by the category of the problem. What is being looked for in each problem. Then do two in each problem area – try the odd numbered ones first and look up the answer after you finish the problem – did you get it and understand it? Do the next one? same personal evaluation. If you got it – Great! Go on. When you've done this with each problem category you will know whether you understand the material.
3. Remember that we are going to have a TEST on chapters 6 and 7 on Wednesday.
