1.2.2        The Dimensions of PDP

1.2.3        Quick Discussion of Handouts and Reflective Journals

1.3   Discuss Service Learning and INTO THE STREETS Experience

1.4  FIRST ASSIGNMENT: Into the Streets Essay (WEB Site) Due by email on Friday September 7th.  Plan to give me a hardcopy next week when I see you on the 14th.  Put an electronic copy in your P-Drive.

1.5  If time permits give reading instrument

 

Class 2 September 7, 2007 No Class

I will be having shoulder surgery on September 6th and will try to return to class at the end of next week.  Please work on the Aristotle and Augustine Handouts in your Reflective Notebooks in my absence.  See the Website for other instructions.

 

Week 2 ASSIGNMENT: Write an Initial Reflective Essay (see handouts and website) assignment is due in electronic form by email on September 14th be sure to put a copy in your P-drive.

Class 1 September 10, 2007 Welcome Dr. Alice Trupe – Dr. Trupe is the Director of the Writing Center here at Bridgewater.  She will be your guest lecturer for today.  Please greet her warmly.

 

Class 2 September 12, 2007 Welcome Dr. Chip Studwell – Dr. Studwell is the Director of Academic Support Services and has kindly agreed to come and speak with your on the topic of “The Keys to Effective Learning” – feel free to ask him about the other services which he provides and give him a warm welcome.

ASSIGNMENT: Read the essay: C.S. Lewis On Liberal Arts Education and prepare to discuss it on Friday.

 

Class 3 September 14, 2007 Welcome me back (probably rather the worse for wear)

We’ll be talking about study skills, success strategies, reflection as a process of life long learning and the value of the Liberal Arts.  Discussion of the metaphor of the Journey.

Assignment #2 the Initial Reflective Essay is due.
