1. Video States of Fear: Science or Politics, featuring the keynote address by Michael Crichton. On Friday we will look at some shorter videos by scientists at the conference.
2. Handout:
ASSIGNMENT: Record your thoughts in your Reflective Journal. Try to engage the topics. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Do you think you need more information?
Class 3 Friday September 29, 2006
1. Handout The Great Conversation by Robert M. Huchens and author list and Library Mission. Briefly talk about the great conversation.
2. Video Scientists from the States of Fear conference — probably at least two.
PICKUP: You should turn in your Th!nk essay hardcopy and don’t forget the electronic copy you have to send me.
NEXT WEEK: We are going to look at a video on Monday called The Hero’s Journey and the assignment for the week will be to go on the Library Mission and write a reflective essay about a Great Person of your choice. You also have to create a powerpoint slide about your great person (see the format on the handout — no fancy backgrounds because I’m going to combine all the slides) and give a two minute presentation on your great person on October 27th.
