General ASSIGNMENT for Week: This week's assignment is to produce your Draft Reflective Essay. There is a separate handout for the Reflective Essay. Note that this is your first cut at the essay that forms 50% of your final grade. The minimum length is eight double spaced pages. That's at least 2800 words and could easily go to 3500. I'd shoot for somewhere in between.

PICK UP REFLECTIVE JOURNALS: I'll also be picking up your Reflective Journals for the last time.

Class 1 Monday November 13, 2006

1. Discussion of on the Dimensions of PDP and the creation of a terrific reflective essay.

HANDOUT: Handout includes the powerpoint on reflective essays, the guideline on Freshmen Reflective Essays, some examples of good and bad reflection, and the grading criteria sheet. You should carefully review this material before you write your essay.

Class 2 Wednesday November 15, 2006

1. Party at the Schneiders. See the Website for directions. We have to decide exactly what we'll be doing and when we'll be doing it. I'm expecting the party to take between two and three hours and we'll have some activity, possibly a movie. Light snacks like popcorn, cookies and brownies — that kind of thing — will be served.

1. More discussion on reflection. Draft Essays are due and the Reflective Journals will be picked up.

NEXT WEEK: We'll continue the theme of reflection on Monday, especially in the light of your experience writing your Draft Reflective Essays. However it's Thanksgiving Vacation Week and there is no essay assignment for the week. I'll be giving you back your Draft Reflective Essays after the break and you'll have a week to rewrite or improve them.
