Don't have to use 99 percentiles can divide the interval (0 to 100%) into four parts, Quartiles, or five parts Quintiles

Assignment:
1. Read Chapter 4, concentrating on Sections 4.1 and 4.2 for balance of week. Prepare notes and questions to be asked in class if material is unclear.
2. Do some of the 8 problems pages 116-119 either manually or using your calculator or a spreadsheet. If you have difficulty prepare questions to ask in class.

Assignment:
1. Read ahead at least two sections 4.2 and 4.3 ¾ if you have time browse through Chapter 5 which we'll start into next week.
2. Select some of the 13 problems on pages 130 to 133 to do. Do them by hand or using Excel.
Class 3 MOVED TO WEDNESDAY OF WEEK 4
1. Explanatory variables, response variables and least-squares
2. Computing Least Squares Linear Regression Manually (Example)
3. Computing Least Squares Linear Regression using Excel
Assignment
1. Study section 4.3 on The Linear Correlation Coefficient, making notes and preparing questions. Then Read (browsing) Chapter five in preparation for future classes.
2. Select about three of the 10 problems pages 142 to 145. If you have difficulty doing them manually or with your calculator or with Excel then bring questions to class and we'll try to do them there.
