Selected Books on Web Developers

  • Head First Web Design ( http://www.headfirstlabs.com/books/hfwd/ ) by Ethan Watrall and Jeff Siarto (O'Reilly, 2009) - for those who know a bit about HTML, this is a good book on how to design and implement a web site from the design process to a fully functional web site.
  • Web Style Guide: Basic Design Principles for Creative Web Sites ( http://webstyleguide.com/ ) by Patrick J. Lynch and Ms. Sarah Horton (Yale U. Press, 2009) - the complete third edition is online at the above site. The book emphasizes design principles but suitable for beginners and advanced users alike.
  • Web Design & Development Using XHTML ( http://www.fbeedle.com/57-0.html ) - download a tutorial for Dreamweaver and check out instructors resources, if you are the instructor in a course using this text.
  • Search for other books on web authoring and HTML at your local bookstore or through an online bookstore.
