Sociology provides a particularly exciting lens by which we can examine our world.  In the words of Peter Berger, "the fascination of sociology lies in the fact that its perspective makes us see in a new light the very world in which we have lived all our lives"  (Berger, Invitation to Sociology).  Or, in the words of my friend Steve Dandaneau, "If we are to change the probabilities for the future, it is only through the critique of our typically myopic consciousness and its replacement with a sociological imagination"  (Dandaneau, Taking It Big).
