Lecture on 12+ TET scales (TET = tone equal-temperament)

1. Explain Scales. Refer students to Scale Handout.
Chromatic (all 12 notes)
Diatonic (7 of the 12--can be major, minor, modes, etc)
Pentatonic (5 of the 12, for example black keys only)

2. Explain 19+TET and 19+ tone
Students will see for themselves that the 19TET, for example, has many consonant (harmonious) intervals. Although somewhat awkward, it has been used by various musicians. See following examples.
