Welcome to the homepage of Barbara H. Long, MS, VATL, ATC. This site is designed to assist students in completion of courses and general information about the professor. Barbara H. Long has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Bridgewater College and two Master's degrees--one in Sports Medicine and the other in Fitness Management from the United States Sports Academy. Professor Long earned certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification in 1989 and holds the highest level of Virginia licensure available to athletic trainers. She is the newly appointed Chair of the Department of Health and Exercise Science, Director of Athletic Training, and Assistant Professor of Health and Exercise Science at Bridgewater College. Her career has had her working with professional and high level amateur athletes at places like the World University Games, US Olympic Training Center and several professional football camps. She has also served as Head Athletic Trainer at Broadway High School. Barbara has worked on community education presentations and publications dealing with Exercise and Aging, Fall Prevention, Increasing the Functional Limits of Aging and Children and Sports. During this process, she has also acted as co-chair for the Wellness Workgroup of the ElderAlliance, Inc and coordinator of the Stride Inside Valley Mall Walking Program. Recently, Barbara has delved into research involving antibiotic resistant microorganisms such as Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Stuart, Barbara's husband, and herself enjoy living in the Lacey Springs area with their two children--Tyler and Cassie. Contact Information This website is
